ICIC Certification
What the credential covers, who is eligible, and how it reaches you.
What the certification is
ICIC certifies that the holder has completed formal instruction in cryptocurrency investigation and has demonstrated working command of the tracing methodology taught in the Crypto Investigations Academy.
It is a practitioner credential. The standard it reflects is the one applied in casework: a trace is documented so that another investigator can follow it and reproduce it.
IAFCI partnership
ICIC is issued in partnership with the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators, which places the credential inside an established professional body rather than leaving it as a vendor certificate.
The Crypto Investigations Academy is the official pathway to ICIC certification.
Eligibility
Certification is open to students of a qualifying Crypto Investigations Academy course, on one of two registration paths. Registration asks which course you attended so completion can be verified against the class roster before the credential is issued.
- Completion of a qualifying course
- A registration path that applies to you, Legacy or Standard
- Current active membership in the IAFCI
- Name confirmed as it should appear on the certificate
- Certification fee paid through The Block Audit
Holding the credential requires current active IAFCI membership, which can be obtained through a local chapter. Join IAFCI
Two registration paths
Legacy path, $250
For students whose Crypto Investigations Academy course ended before August 1, 2026. The Legacy path closes after February 28, 2027.
Standard path, $450
For students who passed the ICIC exam. Register within 6 months of the date the exam was passed.
Students who already paid The Block Audit at course registration owe nothing more. We verify each of those payments against the class roster.
Payment
All ICIC certification payments are made through The Block Audit payment portal. Payments are not accepted by IAFCI directly. At the end of each month, The Block Audit sends registration fees to IAFCI along with confirmation of each registrant's eligibility.
How delivery works
Certificates are mailed. Give the mailing address for each student at registration, and the certificate is mailed once eligibility is confirmed.
To issue your certification, The Block Audit shares your name, agency, email, exam result, and mailing address with IAFCI.
Register
The form asks for the course attended, the registration path, the name for the certificate, payment status, and the mailing address where the certificate will be mailed.
